A group of artists from the Balmedie area are putting on an exhibition of their works
April - Isobel Gregory
I live 20 yards from the Moray Firth in a traditional fisherman's cottage and regularly combe the beach for driftwood and flotsam for my driftwood mirrors.
When I was in my mid fifties I enrolled and studied art and design at Banff & Buchan Collage, fulfilling a lifelong ambition. I enjoy painting local scenes in watercolours and acrylics.
Designing and crafting jewellery is my passion.

My interest in photography goes back to my early teens in Yorkshire where I enjoyed taking mostly black and white photographs of the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. After pursuing a career in music, photography was rekindled when I changed career to a lighting product designer and found the need for a photographer who understood lighting products. Since embracing digital processing in year 2000 I have been experimenting with enhanced, altered and colourised images as this gives me an additional dimension for expression and emotion, adding further individuality to my work. My theory on photography is that the photographer should give the viewer a fresh, different or alternative perspective on a subject and that at the time of taking the photograph should have a clear vision of the finished product. I have been painting on and off most of my life but it is only since I moved back to Scotland that I have had time to concentrate and take things more seriously. I work in Oils and have been painting around Moray for the last 9 years or so.
I have always been strongly influenced by the Impressionists and living in Moray I enjoy being surrounded by the most wonderful wide skies, fabulous seascapes and coastal scenery. I get motivated by things like light, movement and colour and all three combine in the many sailboats around this area. Painting is, I think my response to the effects of light and shade and the emotion it stirs within me.
