North East Open Studios
Opening doors to creativity - NEOS - runs from 11th Sept to 19th Sept and this year Tarts & Crafts will be featuring exhibitions by two local artists:
Janet Whitelock who works in acrylics, inspired by the local landscape
Janet lives in Aberdeenshire on a working Farm. She takes inspiration for her paintings from the animals, countryside and coast around her. Janet has a background in design and has used her artistic skills in various forms, from cake design to card making. She paints mostly in acrylic but occasionally uses mixed media.
Lyn Elrick who uses pencil to create portraites and local historical buildings
My name is Lyn Elrick I am 30 and a bit more and grew up in Mintlaw Aberdeenshire. I now live in Stuartfield (Crichie) with my husband Graeme, son Nicholas 6 yrs ,daughter Jorja 4yrs Tummel the dog and a visiting cat called Bella. I have had a passion for drawing and art as long as I can remember. I love peoples faces and the subtle differences and similarities that make us all the same but at the same time completely different. I draw mainly from photos in graphite but like to add some colour from time to time. I enjoy getting lost in the detail when I am drawing and I love trying to capture the exact emotion and feeling at the moment caught on camera. I don't have any formal training apart from a higher in art and a work experience placement at peacock printmakers way back ( and I mean way back) when I was at academy. As long as my pictures make someone smile every time they look at them I am happy.
We will also be exhibiting more than 50 different crafts by local crafts people. We are having a number of demonstrations throughout the week by our crafters, so why not visit the to watch the crafters at work. Come and experience everything from jewellery making to decoupage and rag rugging.
